Yes — some sections of a live brief are editable, some aren’t. Here’s the full picture.
You CAN edit:
- Title
- Deadlines (extending only — see Can I close my brief to new applicants? to close early)
- Custom Creator Insight questions
- Creator Criteria
- Payment (increasing only — you can’t lower the amount creators already applied under)
You CAN’T edit:
- Products / SKUs — you can’t add a new product to the brief or swap the product list once it’s live. Creators applied based on the products you originally offered; changing the set would change the deal they signed up for.
- Deliverables (what you’re asking creators to produce)
- Brief type (UGC, Influencer, Review, etc.)
- Non-negotiables
Changes that can be made while Creators are still applying:
- Creator Insight questions
- Creator Criteria
- Brief Screening question
- Changing these will only impact future applicants
- Once creators have applied, you can’t edit the screening question or its correct answer in a way that brings disqualified creators back.
- Removing the question entirely does not restore access for anyone already screened out.
Why the locked fields are locked
Cohley locks these fields once creators have applied — to protect both sides. Brands can’t change the deal after creators have committed, and creators can’t show up to a brief whose terms have shifted.
If you need to change something locked, send the update to the creator in the brief chat and wait for them to confirm in writing before moving forward.
Note: this chat-and-confirm path applies to editable terms only — it does not apply to Brief Screening. A disqualified Creator can’t be reinstated this way; see Targeting options in brief creation for the screening rules and the private-brief workaround.
The product & concept exception: individual assignment swap
You can change a specific creator’s product or concept selection in the Applicants or Accepted tabs — but only to a product or concept already in the brief’s list, and only before the order has shipped. See Changing a Creator’s Product Selection.
If you really need different products
Close the brief to new applicants (see Can I close my brief to new applicants?), then duplicate the brief with the updated product set and launch it fresh.
