What currency does Cohley use?

Modified on Thu, 18 Jun at 5:31 PM

All amounts on Cohley are displayed in US Dollars (USD) — brief budgets, creator rates, fund balances, invoices, everything. This is the case for every brief, regardless of where the brand or the creator is based.

How creators get paid in their local currency

Cohley handles creator payments via PayPal, which supports payment in over 400 countries. When you pay a creator based outside the US, the conversion to their local currency happens on the PayPal side — the creator receives the equivalent amount in their local currency.

That means a Canadian creator working on your brief is paid in CAD, even though your brief budget on Cohley was set in USD. You don’t need to set up a separate Canadian (or UK, EU, etc.) version of your brief.

Can I change the display to CAD / EUR / GBP on Cohley?

No. The Cohley platform displays everything in USD. There’s no per-brief currency setting.

Reporting locally-denominated amounts to your finance team

Cohley shows your spend in USD only. If you need to report what a payment translates to in another currency for your finance or accounting team, you’ll need to calculate it on your side using the USD-to-local conversion rate on the date the creator was paid. Cohley doesn’t surface the converted amount on the brand side — the PayPal payout record sits with the creator, not you.

For your first international brief

When you run a brief targeting creators in Canada, the UK, Europe, or anywhere outside the US:

  • Build the brief and set creator compensation in USD as usual
  • Creators see the USD amount you’ve offered and apply as normal
  • When you pay the creator, PayPal handles conversion to their local currency automatically
