When you're reviewing content, two things surprise brands most often:
1. Why does the video look lower-quality?
2. When are you actually cleared to use it?
The Content to Review tab shows a compressed preview
The video you play in the Content to Review tab is a compressed preview that Cohley generates so it loads and streams quickly in your browser. It can look lower-resolution than the 4K/original you requested — that's expected, and it does not mean the delivered file was degraded. The preview is for reviewing, not for using.
The Content Library holds the full-resolution original
Once an asset is approved, it lands in your Content Library at its original, full-resolution size and original asset type/format. Cohley doesn't transcode or compress on download — the file you download is exactly what the creator delivered (e.g., your full 4K video).
To get the file you'll actually use, download from the Content Library — a single asset, or a bulk export. See How Do I Download Content from My Content Library?
Downloading isn't the same as being cleared to use it
Being able to download an asset does not by itself grant usage rights. Content is cleared to use in-market only after both:
- You've accepted the asset, and
- The Creator Compensation payment has gone through.
Assets that haven't been accepted and paid for should not be published, run in paid media, or otherwise used in-market. Once Creator Compensation is paid, ownership and usage rights transfer to you automatically — there's no separate talent release form to collect, and the content is yours to use in perpetuity. See Content Rights.
